I am glad to announce that Paizo have released a new pathfinder module; Beyond the Vault of Souls, which has my artwork on the cover. The full painting can be seen above.

To the left is the image fully realised and with all the trade dress on. Seeeing this for the first time I find myself reflecting on what I should note works well, or conversely what might be better approached differently.
The full product details can be found here:http://paizo.com/pathfinder/pathfinderModules/v5748btpy85jr

Cheers,

  1. Lovely, love piece there, mate, though I wish the final version had left more of the sky in there. Seriously, it seems pink has become the new color of badass-ness. I do wonder why Paizo chose such a pulp font as it doesn't seem to fit with the cover. Oh well.

If you don't mind, would you mind sharing some of those "reflections" bemusing you? Off the top of my head, the only thing I see that seems "off" is the fore fronted chest arm as it seems to have flattened a bit, but that tends to happen when having to deal with two strong light sources anyway.

    Hmmm...I'm rather impertinent today.

  2. Glad you like the painting. On some of their other covers the trdae dress is semi opaque, and allows some of the background to show through more.

There were no major issues looking back at this, but I did wonder whether I could have carried the blue through onto the figures more. This might have upped their contrast against the background, but the current spell effect does provide a punchy focal point.

  3. Thanks for the reply!

I think it's a good thing that you didn't carry the blue any further than you did as I feel the contrast of the figures is just fine against the background, and that by "diffusing" the blue further, you would have lost some of the punch of the focal point. Granted, I know squat, and everything I say is rubbish, but still...:)

  4. No, I think what you have to say is fair, and was my original thinking :)
